PES 2009 Hits Xbox Live!
Talk about some breaking news, the PES 2009 Xbox360 demo has just hit the Marketplace a few seconds ago! Go over there and download it now!
Just about to leave the house and there was still no PES 2009 demo. Being the PES addict that I am, I thought I would check it one last time before dashing out, and there it was! Must have been the first person to download it!
The text accompanying the demo says:
“In PES 2009, linking up with your team-mates is the key. Watch for their moves as they make runs and call for the ball! It’s down to you to pick out the best option and end the attack with a great team goal! This demo can be played with upto 4 people.”
So head over there and download it now!

I took the morning off work just in case this dropped! I’m downloading it now, ooooooh yes!

Is it already available for Silver Members or do we have to wait for a couple more days for it to become available like FIFAsucks 2009?

the ps store will be updated at 5 o’clock in europe.
so the xbox 360 owner should write what they think about the gameplay.

WE/PES seasoned veterans will never be truly pleased with PES 09 because Konami needs to make a separate games for different markets (Simulation and Casual Gaming). FIFA has address this issue, by releasing the FIFA Street series which can be fun while drinking beers with your mates. As I was reading the IGN review of FIFA 09, they mentioned that FIFA may not suit every type of gamer because it may be seem dull and tedious due to low scoring and careful approach to building up play. Meaning that FIFA 09 has taken the Simulation route and those who expect to have loads of fun without having to put in the time to overcome the learning curve might find a much more enjoyable experience in PES.
Konami has gone on record and mentioned that PES was never meant to be a simulation but rather a game that can appeal to gamers of all ages and skill levels. They go on to say that they do not care what approach FIFA takes, they will stay loyal to their style of programming. I find it impossible to please two different markets with one single game. I don’t mind paying a game like PES 09 with a couple of friends but I do mind when I can absolutely obliterate the CPU in the Master League. I still remember the days when I would play WE 6 Final Evo on Extreme Difficulty level and finding it incredibly hard to even get out of the second division with star players (Nedved, Thuram, Del Piero). Unfortunately it looks like Konami wants to kill two birds with one stone.

5 games in and haven’t scored, a good sign i think. But then again I am trying out the manual cursor which takes some getting used to, especially set pieces.

i think its a cross between pes 6 and 2008 with all the bad stuff from 08 gone….you can be liverpool, barce, man u, real, italy and france…its what everyone said…keeper puts the ball to the side and are better but ive only played 2 games, so theyre not retards anymore…but the gameplay is back… maybe its coz its new but i love it……i think after the first half i had pre-cum…graphics are heaps better too..we’ll see if this feeling lasts

Wow It came out in the US too! Only time for 1 game. Looks very similar to PES2008. Ball feels heavier. Well I didnt score on Top player so thats good. Graphics are tweaked. Replays still not great on HD still choppy :(.
Well gotta go to work. My first impression : - Not blown away.

Manual cursor: when you can decide whether to control the player with the ball, or make runs into space with another.
Double-tapping RT to call for the ball works better than I thoughtit would.

@dmkny oh please mate, get off this ridiculous band wagon of oh pes is shit now… its back to the way it should be, and exactly what is wrong with pes 08 slowed down? pes 08 some much better things about it and than some previous pes games. the only people that should really hate this is pes 08 noobs, who are only used to fast pes where u can slag all day long, this is not the same, no where near.

My first impressions on the 360 while i wait for my ps3 to finish downloading. I like the reduced speed of the game, more realistic ebb and flow. The AI of the computer is very good, and they don’t seem to just pull off the impossible against you. What I really liked was the fact that the central midfield players have more time on the ball to create in the middle of the park, as opposed to ‘08 where a lot of my goals were created through clever wingplay. Just wondering if the dive still works, not so used to the xbox as i played it on ps3 last year to know. But my first impressions are its looking good. Now only 2 weeks 2 go.

@ bkmelendez - good comment.
@ skillbane - LMAO - its true though running animation is too stiff.
Pros:
- Graphics sharper
- New animations
- Game slower in speed (doesnt feel so arcadey)
- Game has weight not like Fifa which feels light
Cons:
- Despite small improvements GKs still push the ball in front of them
- Running animations are too robotic
- Players still do that stupid skill everytime they turn 90 degree which is soo unrealistic.
Its much better than 2008 but my opinion in judging both Demos PES and Fifa that Fifa is slightly better and maybe thats because i like simulation rather than arcade. I will wait for PES2009 to drop in price before i purchase.

I’m a just football fan so im gonna keep it real
My demo impressions
The Good:
- Slowed down pace(way better than 2008)
- Player Faces(better then ever)
The Bad:
- Horrible dribbling(ball just bounces off the player’s foot and far)
- Stiff and robotic animations(Like TheKinght said: Old-gen animations are killing it)
- Players do tricks by them self:S(for example no more tapping RB/R1 for hotstep)
- Graphics have hardly improved
- Horrible menu and soundtrack(feels like Seabass hired a 11-year old kid to design it)
- Doesnt seem as responsive as 2008
The Ugly:
PES 2009 has really dissapointed me. The last thing i have to say is that if you’re real football fan, FIFA 09 is the game for you. It’s the best football game i’ve ever played and is a true simulation of the sport. I was hoping that PES would beat FIFA this year but sadly in my opion it didn’t.

dont make me laugh omg fifa 09?? have u ever played real life football? i dont think so…I do not think so that we play in a soccer club with 5 kg balls =)
“- Players do tricks by them self:S(for example no more tapping RB/R1 for hotstep)” that shows that u played only 1 match! u tricks now with the control stick oder Dpad -.-

@Okls
No I have never played real life football in my life
what kind of stupid question is that?:S
the balls do feel quite light and your right about the tricks
but if you seriously believe that PES 2009 is real football, i really dont know what you call football
even the opm reviews says if you want a true football simulation you should go for FIFA 09
Just say you like pes better

@ Okls, true football fan is right…using the directional stick as a trick stick is just stupid. Im walking straightforward with Rio Ferdinand and do a 90 degree left and all of a sudden Rio Ferdinand of all people is pulling out a shimmy…its wrong and it should be a skill that is ability linked if your gonna keep it in.
The only thing that resembles real football on PES is the ball physics -everything else from animations to goalkeepers A.I are just soo off its unbelievable. Its time people started facing facts and demand this revolution we were told the game was getting.

This game is so… meh.
Better than PES2008? Of course. This is a given ever since PES 2008 was out. It’s not an achievement, or a good thing, or a “promise delivered” by Konami.
Saying PES2009 is better than 08 is like saying you took a breath of fresh air and didn’t die. Because that’s what’s expected when you breath fresh air. Nothing supernatural there.
PES2009 (judging from the demo) just shows how small Konami’s PES/WE assigned team is. With such a small team, they won’t be able to deliver on in the next-gen age. Small minor updates will be the only thing they are capable of.
Too bad FIFA09 messed up the player’s momentum, and pace of the game, as well as excessive collisions, but they are on the right road. I bet that next year they will deliver a killer game FIFA2010, that will win all PES fans back, if Seabass’ team remains as small and limitedly resourced. Let’s not forget that 2010 is 360 movement year. FIFA09 is a step away from that with its new “calculate-and-generate” animations system introduced 3 years ago, whereas KONAMI is years away from 360 movement. So unfortunately I’ll stay with PES 2009 this year just because I have to. But next year I am almost sure FIFA will tune down the gameplay and add more momentum and less flexibility to the players’ movement.
Now waiting for the patches to stretch this game to its limits.
