Konami Release Licenses Info & Images

In the run up to the game and this weekend’s PES Rankings tournament in Rome, Konami have given the PES fans something to shout. A new batch of images and details on the licenses within PES 2009.

Here’s the official press release:

PES 2009 bolsters its licenced line-up

Konami adds new club and national sides, as PES 2009’s team roster expands further

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has confirmed a number of additional licenced elements for its forthcoming PES 2009 title. Due for release on October 16th for PLAYSTATION®3, Xbox 360 and PC-DVD, the new game will benefit from the inclusion of some of the world’s biggest club and national sides.

Following the recent announcement of Konami’s four-year agreement to feature UEFA’s Champions League competition in the game, the publisher has also added a strong selection of other licensed teams for use in the game. The Dutch Eredivisie and French Ligue 1 will both be represented in their entirety, with full kits, player rosters and affiliated elements. Likewise, key clubs such as FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, FC Porto, Liverpool and Manchester United, will also be resplendent in their official livery. Other additions include the likes of Zenit St. Petersbourg and Brondby IF, amongst others. Konami has also added a number of new national sides to PES 2009, with Northern Ireland amongst those added to the International rosters of respected teams like Netherlands, England and Italy.

The publisher has also included several new stadia in the new game, with faithfully recreated versions of the Stade de France, Stadio Olimpico di Torino and the new Wembley Stadium included for the first time. These new agreements confirm Konami’s commitment to constantly adding new licences to the PES series.

PES 2009 will be released for PLAYSTATION®3, Xbox 360, PC-DVD and mobile phones on 17th October, followed by versions for PlayStation®2 on 30th October, and for PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) on 6th November and for Wii in 2009.

What the fuck? Hasnt it lost more licenses this year? AGAIN?

Yet they are claiming they have added?

  2. How is konami expanding their roaster if they add new licences and at the same time they lose old ones?

  7. There’s nothing new in this announcement whatsoever, EA must be pissing themselves at such a weak licensing roster, and I hate to say I told you so regarding Serie ‘A’ :( …What’s with the national licences too, why are Konami not giving us full info on this? Could Adam, Suff, or just someone in the know please post a full list of all the licensed national teams in the game (dying to know if Wales are in)…thanks guys.

  9. Dire news indeed for PES. While I don’t really care about licenses (I loved the PSOne Winning Eleven games, and those didn’t even feature real names), this is not 1998 but 2008, and anything less than an accurate depiction of reality is becoming increasingly unacceptable to the gamer.

But personally, as long as the gameplay’s there, I couldn’t care less. Of course, that may be because I own a PC, so I’ll have it patched in a matter of weeks.

  10. Crap! While we’re waiting in anticipating for the EPL license to come up for grabs in 2011, Konami is losing every major license that they’ve had in the past. Getting the EPL license will be useless if there isn’t La Liga and Serie A. I can’t bear the thought of not having Juve licensed in a Pro Evo game. What are these people thinking?

    HundredProofSam commented

  11. serie a’s definatly licensed, sucks that we lost La Liga though. At least they kept the ‘major’ Spanish sides. It could be worse guys, we could have NO spanish teams at ALL

  12. yes but the matter is how could it be better …not worse…

  13. It’s all about Carl and his OF.

Is a real shame about the lack of stadiums though, apart from Wembley; a huge plus considering, that. I’ll get over it if online is good.

  14. Wow… so far this game is turning out to be a downgrade from 2008. Whats the point of the CL license when we are losing La Liga and Serie A???????? All we get is the music and the CL logo crap. Nice downgrade. And out of the 32 CL teams only 24 are licensed!!! LOL WHAT THE HELL!??????

  15. Pro Evo licensing issues are nothing new, brokenonline, but you already know that, I’m sure. With an extensive edit mode it really isn’t an issue, you know it’s no bother. I think you missed a trick though - stadiums are a bit short (apart from Wembley, thank god)

As your name beautifully highlights (clever, that), there’s only one real question mark (I’ve heard enough from WENB to be confident in gameplay, in addition to other tasters) - online. If that’s sorted, you may have to change your name, fella ;)

  16. Very nice things to hear. Though that yellow team has a logo just like Chelsea’s unlicenced one in PES lol

  17. oh come on, stop complaining guys! we got zenit now!! that’s more than an equaliser to the loss of la liga! and northern ireland woohooooooooo

  18. Well, Mo, but it’s important to point out that it’s a common practice to have those kinds of “duplicate” screenshots. There’s nothing wrong or shameful with that.

But, as you point out, the issue is more that there are only so few of them. Obviously, Konami only wanted to display the kits themselves and nothing more, but that’s the mistake they made. They should have given brand new screenshots to support that :)

  20. EVERY TEAM IN SERIE A IS LICENSED!!!!
The use of the league name “Serie A” IS NOT
The official logo of Serie A IS NOT.

    Calm down people!

    Casperld commented

  21. If they dont have the license for the Serie A logo then how can the kits be 100% official? Italian teams have Serie A logos on their shirts…. so that means they cant have them… lol even the licensed teams aren’t 100% official. Same thing with the 7 licensed teams in la liga. Pretty soon we will have 0 licenses in PES. lol

    brokenonline commented

  22. Croatian NK Dinamo Zagreb, Serbian FK Red Star Belgrade and FK Partizan Belgrade as well as Serbian National Team will be licensed.
