Big PES 2009 Info Regarding Demo Dates, Licensing and CL Mode!
Anyone who’s been following WENB this summer will know that Pelluk have been a huge asset to the PES community. The mole from pelluk brings us some more exclusive info!
First up, there will be a fully licensed Champions League mode featuring the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United!
Some not so good news as well, unfortunately it looks like some clubs will only be partially licensed, and La Liga will only feature a few top clubs fully licensed, while others may have fake kits and team names. Good thing we’ve got a fantastic edit mode this year, Carl will have his work cut out for the WENB option file!
And finally, some big news- PES 2009 demo hits the marketplace September 11th, same date as Fifa! No confirmation of PSN though, I’ll be in touch with them to find out.
All info from the mole in his post here
Let us know what you think in the comments!
*UPDATE* After checking with sparky, PES 2009 will be hitting PSN on the same date aswell!

So, we have a FULLY licensed Champions League mode, meaning ALL the clubs in it are fully licensed (including Spanish and English teams?). Does this also mean that we’ll have the four licensed clubs from Spain and England, that are in the Champions League, in the other modes?
Good news and bad news I suppose. Rough and smooth, hot and cold. September 11th will be a good day to judge how far FIFA has come and see if PES is any better. Will the demo be the one that was at Leipzig?

I gotta give credit to Konami, they realized the shitty mistakes they’ve made last year and corrected them this year. The demo news and the arsenal news are just sweet. Let’s just hope that the gameplay is something worth buying.

Awesome news, but I’m just gutted about it being frm the Leipzig build. I’ll be honest and say I never had any idea that the CL would have all teams licensed. With 4 premiership teams sorted, I can certainly see every team in that particular mode licensed.
We’ll soon find out.

hey Adam I got a couple questions.. a) will CL 2008 (which man utd just won) be licensed or 2009? b) if for example CL 2009 is licensed, does that mean we’ll have a fully licensed bayern, werder and schalke? cause you mentioned something about partially licensed clubs and I didn’t understand if that was referring to the CL license or La Liga license..
Nick X commented
on September 4th, 2008 at 7:26 pm
Konami must be confident to do this same day as FIFA so fingers crossed we get a better version than Leipzig.
Cheers for this. CL fully confirmed on its own was HUGE; separate mode or in ML?
UncleBen_ commented

how about cross platforming online (ps3 against pc)?
Tomasz89 commented
on September 4th, 2008 at 8:04 pm
Thats what I’m not sure about Nick X. Will try and find out, but I reckon it wont be allowed to be passed on.
The CL license will definitely be a seperate mode, ML integration right now is unlikely.
And no cross platform gaming as we know right now.

This is bitter-sweet. I am all excited for the Champions League mode but was hoping for it to be properly implemented into the Master League. Granted the ML already has a form of it, it’s just really unbalanced as there have been many times that all 4 teams from the same league start off in the same group of the group stage.
Also, the CL mode is just a fully licensed Konami mode, in my opinion. Since you could already create and tailor the Konami Cup to any which way you like.
Adam, will it always be the same clubs in the CL mode or is there a way to get different clubs to participate. I’m wondering if this mode will be limited.
Nonetheless, it’s a step forward for the many steps backwards that Konami have been doing in their dance.

the demo will be the same that was shown in Leipzig! So I do not have big expectations .. I expect once landed to deliver a huge amount to criticism konami!
I know, sounds bad, but one wonders why is konami is try to erase the PES series. On Leipzig -nothing, presentations - nothing, advertising clips - nothing! WHY? EA is Shatters to advertise and show stupid FIFA. Made thousands of clips with new modes , innovation

NOW IM EXITED!!!!!!!!!!
. Sucks for me. And if it is the Leipzig build then It’s probably not a great idea for them to release it, I mean everyone on here knows it’s not close to the actual game but your regular Joe Schmo doesn’t! It may push them to FIFA without knowing the quality of the real game.
The Champions league is fantastic news! Hope they have the great music and graphics.
The demo is probably not out till later in the US like last year

To download would mean having to update my PS3 Firmware and I have heard the last update ‘bricks’ the console. Adam, any joy with getting confirmation from Konami regarding whether it will be the version you guys played? If it is the Liepzig version then that would be tantamount to attempted suicide for the PES series!!!
