Another Sad Day For Football
In what seems like a week of tragedy for our game, the weekend say the passing away of another footballer who collapsed during a game. Sevilla’s Antonio Puerta, who had just become a Spanish international and a life-long Sevilla fan collapsed during his side’s La Liga season opener.
Medics prevented him from swallowing his tongue whilst on the field, but he collapsed again after going off and was given cardiac resuscitation before being taken to hospital.
He was in intensive care but passed whilst being in hospital at the young age of only 22 years. It’s unfortunate event like this that reminds us all of the Marc-Vivien Foe incident during the Confederations Cup a couple of years ago.
Our condolences go out to Antonio Puerta’s family and relatives.
